im curious how common this behavior is on the internet. specifically with an individual, not necessarily shetposting.

Everyone has their own personal lolcow that they keep up with.

Having trolled and "stalked" (cyber sleuthed) hundreds of people online... after you do it enough times, you realize how boring and pointless it is and abandon it, but it is nice to have cyber sleuth skills on hand for when you need them...

I never did anything like harass people's family, employer, RL friends, that just seems to cross the line. Doing things like posting their name, face, address to spook people who are easily spooked seem like fair game to me. idk.

You ever see Mr Robot where that guy compulsively doxes everyone he meets? Maybe a lot of "hackers" go through that phase, maybe not, I certainly did.

Something that bums me out though, the people I absolutely cannot find online are my old childhood friends. No social media, no LinkedIn, nothing about them in court records, no obituaries, nothing in any online phonebooks. Where did they go? Did they become homeless? move the mountains? troon out without filing paperwork? Idk but I wish I could reach out to some of those guys again.
